About Us

Girls Breakaway Foundation, based in Vancouver, is dedicated to removing financial barriers so that every girl who dreams of playing hockey has an equal opportunity and a chance to play the sport. We assist with equipment, subsidize registration fees and provide mentorship for newcomers wanting to learn more about the sport of hockey. We host events that inspire and provide an opportunity to socialize and create new friendships.

Meet the Founder

My name is Natasha Manji and I love sports! I have been playing ice hockey since the age of 6 and currently play at Shawnigan Lake School with the U18 Female Prep team. Hockey has always been a passion of mine that allowed me to have fun with friendly competition and created a sense of belonging by being a part of a team. In addition, I have made long lasting friendships that I cherish to this day. Playing the sport has taught me great skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, fair play, respect and inclusion. I started Girls Breakaway Foundation to share my love for hockey and to inspire others. My hope is that all girls who want to play are given the same opportunity I was.
